Minimum
Qualifications:
· Minimum of grade 10 education with the ability to read and write
· Must be able to follow instructions or directions
· Minimum of two years’ experience of housekeeping/laundry experience in an organization with more than ten (10) employees or employees and clients
· Experience with and proven knowledge of laundry technology
· Motor coordination and manual dexterity are required and ability to maintain daily, heavy physical activity
POSITION
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Coordinator of Special Services and the day-to-day supervision of the Facility Supervisor or the Executive Director, as required, the position incumbent is responsible for the ongoing cleaning and for the heavier housekeeping duties and transportation of equipment and machinery as required. The incumbent shall have a genuine concern for youth and their families and an appreciation of the issues they face and be familiar with and have an understanding of the goals and objectives of the Association.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
The
incumbent is accountable to all standards and expectations of the Province of
Nova Scotia as applicable to this position:

· Nova Scotia Child Abuse Protocol
· ADCRF Code of Conduct
In all duties and responsibilities and any delegation of tasks, the incumbent is responsible to ensure that all matters under the Provincial Standards for Residential Child-Caring Facilities, the Children and Family Services Act and Regulations and other legislation related to children and youth, which fall under his/her responsibilities are routinely reviewed and that the Standards are met or exceeded. All programs and initiatives must be consistent with the philosophy of the Association. All tasks undertaken must done so in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other legislation that may apply.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Workers follows predetermined work procedures but must be aware when job is done well.
The work environment demands strong physical capabilities, and th ability to focus. Work hours will be, for the most part, during the normal daily work hours. Occasionally extended hours may be required.. Must be able to work independently and under stressful conditions. Working environment often requires sensitivity to cultural and societal differences. Working conditions include heavy physical, emotional and mental demands along with mild to severe environmental conditions.
